Scientific Lab Analysis Results of Concrecel® USA Lightweight vs the Competition

Analysis SUMMARY: A block of lightweight concrete was submitted for analysis to determine why the top surface was unsuitable for bonding. A good product with a material bonded to the surface was also submitted for comparison. Samples of both materials were examined using an optical microscope (OM) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and analyzed for elemental content in the SEM using energy dispersive X-Ray (EDX)spectroscopy. Both samples showed virtually the same elemental content and the concrete structure appeared good (no loose material or un-reacted cement). We believe that the problem is more mechanical than with the cement itself. The problem sample has a lower density than the good product and the size of the voids produced by the foam introduced into the product is such that the problem sample has a thinner concrete wall
between the voids. Also it appears that the foam is more uniform in the problem sample all the way to the top surface leaving a very thin film of
concrete as a bonding surface.
