NASA VAB Building Cape Canaveral, Florida

After several failed attempts by others; National Roofings owner Lou Chrispino contacted Concrecel® USA of South Florida’s owner John Nocella and requested that he come to Cape Canaveral, and attempt to install the Lightweight Insulating Concrete on NASA’s high profile VAB Building. Concrecel eagerly accepted this invitation viewing it as an opportunity to test the capabilities of its third generation patent pending pump. Upon arrival on the site Concrecel’s John Nocella and Alejandro Rodriguez surveyed the conditions and calculated the heights and distances to which they must place their LWC. The structure stood 640’ tall and required the LWC to be pumped an additional 500’ to its final destination.
This was sure to be our most challenging pour. Confident in their equipments ability, Nocella instructed his crew on how to configure both his pump and batches and immediately began installation. After several batches had been placed and tested it was determined by an independent testing laboratory that the LWC was in total compliance with the project specifications. Concrecel USA of South Florida completed this project for National Roofing and saved NASA from the additional cost that would have been incurred due to redesign and the delays that would have accompanied that process.
